The double bass (/ ˈdʌbəlbeɪs /), also known as the upright bass, the acoustic bass, the bull fiddle, or simply the bass, is the largest and lowest-pitched chordophone [ 1 ] in the modern symphony orchestra (excluding rare additions such as the octobass).
