    Locate the NST file in your PC. Make a Right-Click on it and then select Properties. Under the General tab Change the file extension from . nst to .ost. Once you change the File name, open the tool you downloaded. Add OST file into the software which you have renamed. All the data will be previewed to you in a readable form.

    This issue appears fixed with today's M365 office apps update. After the update I noticed it was still using the most recent NST file. I quit Outlook, deleted ALL the NST files for the impacted accounts, and when I restarted Outlook it only created one. I've restarted Outlook numerous times today and the issue appears resolved.

    Outlook is replicating multiple .nst files. Some machines are replicating up to 200 times. We have created a new .ost file imported all the data from the original, and then deleted the original .ost file but after several weeks it starts re-creating the .nst files. Each .nst file is an identical 16mb regardless of the .ost file size.

    I tried removing the file to see if would replace itself by renaming the file but no sucess. It's your data file - either for notes or for the outlook hotmail connector. Because its an offline message store, if you delete it, outlook will recreate it.
