The Missouri Botanical Garden is a botanical garden located at 4344 Shaw Boulevard in St. Louis, Missouri. It is also known informally as Shaw's Garden for founder and philanthropist Henry Shaw . Its herbarium , with more than 6.6 million specimens, [ 3 ] is the second largest in North America, behind that of the New York Botanical Garden .

Most areas are owned by the department; some are leased by the department; some areas are managed under contract by the department; and some areas are leased to other entities for management.

Toxicoscordion venenosum is a bulb plant 20–70 centimeters tall when flowering in the spring or early summer. The underground bulbs are egg-shaped (ovoid) and made of up of multiple layers protected by dried outer layers (tunicate) like an onion. [5] The plant's leaves appear very early in the spring and are narrow. [6]
