Suffolk County (/ ˈ s ʌ f ə k / SUF-ək) is the easternmost county in the U.S. state of New York, constituting the eastern two-thirds of Long Island. It is bordered to its west by Nassau County, to its east by Gardiners Bay and the open Atlantic Ocean, to its north by Long Island Sound, and to its south by the Atlantic Ocean.
The road, named Harbor Road, passes to the north of the Long Island Rail Road's Cold Spring Harbor station and runs along the Nassau–Suffolk county line. The route heads northward through a small residential neighborhood. At the intersection with Stillwell Lane, NY 108 southbound crosses into Nassau County, but soon curves away back into Suffolk.
The road continues through Yaphank, a formerly agrarian area that has been built up by Suffolk County into a government office center, which includes the Suffolk County Police Department headquarters, and one of the main county jails. In conjunction with the development of this zone, CR 21 was widened in the mid-1970s.
