Ouachita National Recreation Trail is a 223-mile (359 km) long, continuous hiking trail through the Ouachita Mountains of Oklahoma and Arkansas. It is the longest backpacking trail in the Ouachita National Forest, spanning 192 miles across its length. [1] Approximately 177 miles of the trail is in Arkansas and 46 miles of the trail is in Oklahoma.
The West Summit Trail is the standard route up Pinnacle Mountain and is easily one of the most trafficked trails in Arkansas. [4] Trails that start at the East Summit parking lot are the 1.5-mile East Summit Trail (marked by red and white blazes), which also ascends Pinnacle Mountain, and the 2.5-mile Base Trail (marked by light green blazes). The Flatside Wilderness is a 9,507-acre protected area in the U.S. state of Arkansas. [2] It is one of six wilderness areas in the Ouachita National Forest and also the easternmost.
