Thomaston is a town in Litchfield County, Connecticut, United States. The town is part of the Naugatuck Valley Planning Region. The population was 7,442 at the 2020 census. [4] The urban center of the town is the Thomaston census-designated place, with a population of 1,928 at the 2020 census. [5]
The Thomaston CDP is slightly east of the geographic center of the town of Thomaston, on the west side of the Naugatuck River and its valley. It extends to the south as far as Watertown Road, to the west beyond Hillside Cemetery and to Northfield Brook, to the north to a power line south of D. Welton Way, and to the east to Williams Street, Electric Avenue, and the Naugatuck River.
The Reynolds Bridge is located roughly midway between Waterbury and the town center of Thomaston, just east of Connecticut Route 8's Exit 38. It is oriented northwest-southeast, and spans the Naugatuck River, the active railroad of the Naugatuck Railroad, which run along the river's east bank, and a former right-of-way of a streetcar line which ran along the river's west bank.

The Thomaston Opera House is a historic performance venue and the town hall of Thomaston, Connecticut. Located at 153 Main Street, it was built in 1883-85, and is a good local example of Romanesque architecture. The theater in the building has served as a performance and film venue since its construction.
