Trinidad is the home rule municipality that is the county seat and the most populous municipality of Las Animas County, Colorado, United States. [7] The population was 8,329 as of the 2020 census. [8] Trinidad lies 21 mi (34 km) north of Raton, New Mexico, and 195 mi (314 km) south of Denver. It is on the historic Santa Fe Trail.

In 1990, The Aultman Museum merged with the A.R. Mitchell Western Art Museum with both collections sharing the historic Jamieson Building on East Main Street in Trinidad. [15] Glenn Aultman passed away in 2000. [13] The Aultman Studio's photographic archives are currently housed at the History Colorado Center in Denver, Colorado. [16]

[1]The district is a 132 acres (53 ha) area roughly bounded by the Purgatoire River on the north and west, Walnut St. on the east, and 3rd, W. 1st and Animas Sts. on the south.
