XHPB was founded by Félix Malpica Mimendi and his son Félix Malpica Valverde with the awarding of a concession on March 10, 1970. It was the first FM radio station in the Veracruz/Boca del Río area (and the first main FM service in the state, though XEOM-FM Coatzacoalcos had already received its concession), originally known as PB Stereo.
XHB-FM received its concession in December 1964, specifying operation on 92.9 MHz but soon after moving to 99.7. In October 1981, XHB became XHBCN-FM. In June 1992, KXVR changed its call letters to KHYZ. In June 2002, KHYZ moved from 99.5 FM to 99.7 FM, and decreased in power to 8,400 watts. In June 2009, KHYZ added a booster signal in Las Vegas to improve its coverage in the city itself. KHYZ later relocated its main transmitter and increased the power to 50,000 Watts.
