Ilfracombe (/ ˈ ɪ l f r ə k uː m / IL-frə-koom) is a seaside resort and civil parish on the North Devon coast, England, with a small harbour surrounded by cliffs.. The parish stretches along the coast from the 'Coastguard Cottages' in Hele Bay toward the east and 4 miles (6 km) along the Torrs to Lee Bay toward the west.
Following the opening of Ilfracombe railway station in 1874, the London and South Western Railway erected an indicator board at the town hall advising platform numbers and the destination of the trains using those platforms. [4] The area was reconstituted as an urban district, with its offices and meeting place at the town hall, in 1894. [5]

Watermouth Castle is a building in Watermouth, near Ilfracombe, North Devon, England, designed by George Wightwick as a residence for the Bassett family in the mid-19th century and is not a true castle but a country house built to resemble one. It has been designated as a Grade II* listed building. [1]
