The following is a list of the 78 schools who field men's lacrosse teams and the 133 schools who field women's lacrosse teams in NCAA Division I competition, plus two schools that have planned to begin fielding Division I women's lacrosse teams in 2026. Conference affiliations are current for the next 2025 NCAA lacrosse season.

The Maryland Whipsnakes are a professional field lacrosse team based in Baltimore, Maryland, that competes in the Premier Lacrosse League (PLL). The Whipsnakes are one of the six founding members of the PLL and the winner of its first two championships; the 2019 season and the 2020 Championship Tournament.
Because NCAA lacrosse for both men and women is a spring sport, this will not match the first overall season of competition for new teams, or the first season of competition in a new conference. For teams departing Division II, the departure will take place after the completion of that year's lacrosse season.
