Swanton is a village located in Fulton and Lucas counties in the U.S. state of Ohio. The population was 3,897 at the 2020 census . Total area is 8.90 km 2 (3.44 sq mi).
Formed in the 1830s, Swanton Township was originally called Wing Township after Chandler Wing, an early settler. Its name was changed to Swanton Township effective April 7, 1851. March 28, 1920 – An F4 tornado touched down in Wells County in Indiana, before crossing the Indiana-Ohio state line into Paulding County. [5] Several homes were destroyed, and a small store was hit, killing 6. It also moved through Fulton County, hitting Swanton, completely destroying multiple small businesses and homes.

Oak Openings Preserve Metropark is a nature preserve located in Swanton Township, Ohio, owned and operated by Metroparks Toledo. Most of the park is an oak savanna ecosystem, characterized by alternating wetland and vegetated dunes. [citation needed] The park hosts the Beuhner Center, an interactive nature center. [4]
