With the destruction of Enies Lobby imminent, all government personnel begin to evacuate. The Straw Hats continue fighting and, with the exception of Luffy versus Lucci, defeat the remaining members of CP9. Their battles won, they team up and hurry to stop Robin from being taken past the point of no return. They succeed and Robin is freed. 44
The battle between Luffy and Lucci continues, with Luffy overpowering Lucci. The rest of the Straw Hats learn from Vegapunk that certain Devil Fruit powers are able to be replicated through blood transfusion. Luffy rejoins Jinbe and the others, as the group makes their way to the Labophase area of Egghead.
Jimbei takes Zoro away as Lucci gives a status update. Dorry and Brogy signal a retreat and shield Luffy from a fierce attack; in turn, he bats away explosives and continues to fight. Elders surround the Straw Hats as they converge on the Sunny. The Pacifistas are defeated; Stussy stays behind to lower the Frontier Dome.
Luffy and Lucci take their fight to the next floor above the sea level to resume their fight with the latter having the greater advantage after Luffy's Second Gear ended. Though Lucci offers Luffy a chance to run away and save his friends, the pirate knows not to trust the CP9 agent as he reveals his other trump card: Third Gear.
Luffy reaches Ace, but Kizaru destroys his key with a beam of light and Sengoku transforms into a giant golden Buddha.
