Peralta divided the house into two rooms, built a porch, a kitchen and a chimney. He died in August 1851, leaving the adobe to his two daughters. The Renzel House in San Jose. In July 1936, Charles and Mary Derby sold about 0.6667 acres (0.2698 ha) of his subdivision to San Jose mayor Ernest Renzel (1907– 2007). In 1939, Renzel commissioned local architect Chester Root to design and Gibson & Wheeler Co., to build a Ranch style single family home that stands on the property.

Rancho San Antonio, also known as the Peralta Grant, was a 44,800-acre (181 km 2) land grant by Governor Pablo Vicente de Solá, the last Spanish governor of California, to Don Luís María Peralta, a sergeant in the Spanish Army and later, commissioner of the Pueblo of San José, in recognition of his forty years of service.
