Originally located at 790 AM, the station was meant to complement the Redifussion service. In the late 1990s Voice of Barbados (VOB) changed to the FM dial, with 790 AM changing format from general to gospel. 790 AM was abandoned when the gospel format was moved to 97.5 FM. Voice of Barbados is now part of the Starcom Network of stations.

Starcom Network is a radio station in Barbados. Starcom Network began its life as Radio Distribution (Barbados) Limited, with the introduction of the first broadcast station then located at Wildey, St. Michael in 1935. At that time, the company transmitted its broadcast signal using a cable network system, known as subscription radio.
CBC Radio was the only wireless radio station in Barbados until VOB 92.9 FM was introduced with former radio station Gospel 790 AM in 1981. It was known as "Radio Barbados" and later on in the late 1980s as "Sound Sensation 900 AM", and is now known as "CBC 94.7 FM, The Caribbean's Best Connection".
