The Association of Asia Pacific Airlines (AAPA), formerly Orient Airlines Association, Inc., [1] is a trade association of major scheduled international airlines based in the Asia-Pacific region. Established in 1966 with headquarters in Makati , Philippines , the association has moved to its present headquarters in Kuala Lumpur , Malaysia .
According to AAPA, America's ports are gateways to the world and a critical component in economic health and national defense. On average, each of the 50 states relies on 13 to 15 ports to handle its imports and exports, which add up to over $5.5 billion worth of goods moving in and out of U.S. ports every day. The Challenge Bowl started at the 1991 AAPA Annual Conference in San Francisco, CA.It has been held as an annual event at the conference every year since. Several states have followed this tradition and hold annual state competitions which are molded after the same format as the national competition.
