Yes, I know that there are different grades of Varsol. I am looking for a Varsol 140. According to a chemical supplier I spoke with today, this used to be used in the dry cleaning industry but the Feds made them go to a higher evaporative rate Varsol. I looked at the MSDS sheet on the 140 and have given up on being able to obtain it any longer.

We got rid of the solvent tank and went with a hot water type cleaning system. No smell. VERY good cleaning of parts, and servicing of the unit at wide intervals so we're not paying too much. I absolutely can't stand the varsol smell and the tanks.

Used to be 2 oil companies in town that sold bulk Varsol, both gone now. Walmart sells Paint thinner and Mineral spirits for $14-16 per gallon. I think they are both the same thing. Couple months ago, I went 'round with this and decided to dump 3 gallons of diesel fuel in the parts washer rather than pay 2x the price for paint thinner.
