The Pomfret Stakes is a Listed flat horse race in Great Britain open to horses aged three years or older. It is run at Pontefract over a distance of 1 mile and 6 yards (1,615 metres), and is scheduled to take place each year in July. The race was first run in 2004, as a handicap.

Route 169 is a 47.36-mile-long (76.22 km) state highway in the U.S. states of Connecticut and Massachusetts.It begins in the city of Norwich, Connecticut, and runs 38 miles (61 km) through Northeastern Connecticut, continuing across the state line into Southbridge, Massachusetts.
The racecourse grandstand. Racing is recorded as having taken place in Pontefract as early as 1648, just before the local Castle was taken by the forces of Oliver Cromwell. Races were held in the meadows near the town but these were discontinued by 1769. [1] The townsfolk restarted the sport in 1801 and it has continued ever since. [2]
After the overlap, it continues north and northeast through Hampton into Pomfret, where it ends at its northern of two intersections with US 44, also meeting Route 169. [ 1 ] Route 97 is designated a scenic route from its southern intersection with US 44 in Pomfret to its northern terminus, a distance of 4.50 miles (7.24 km).
