The company was founded in Cleveland, Ohio in 1914, when Mortimer Slater, with Charles Anson Bond and Lester Cohen, founded the stores as a retail outlet for their suit manufacturing company. Charles Anson Bond, whose name was chosen for its market value and meaning left Cleveland for Columbus, Ohio where he opened a branch of the company.
St. Bernard Sports was founded in 1978 [1] by Wes Goyer. The company began by specializing in high end retail fashion and surf, snowboard and ski products but expanded its business model to include other types of apparel and in 1998 began carrying shoes and sportswear. Westland Mall is a demolished 860,000-square-foot (80,000 m 2) shopping center located at the intersection of U.S. Route 40 and Interstate 270 on the west side of Columbus, Ohio. In November 2012, the majority of the mall closed, and the last anchor closed in 2017. A mixed use development is planned, and demolition began around August 2023.
