If they simply credit your MGM Rewards Points balance by 10,000 points (aka $100) and clobber it together with all other points earned from gaming and purchases, then I don't know how they'd enforce these 2 things:
I would expect the system to do this would need to be automated unless MGM hates their slot attendants. For example @IrishDave said he earned 80 TC before the multiplier playing 7/5 Bonus Deluxe at the Park MGM sportsbar with $364 coin in. Knowing him it was with STP or DSTP attached which would be about 96.52% or 96.75% return (3.48% or 3.25% ...
Agree with @CherriesJubilee generally resort credit won't get applied against retail purchases you make in a gift shop/sundries stores at MGM or CET. There's a semi-workaround for certain things, like if you want bottled water/soda/juice, and the hotel has a take-out/grab-and-go restaurant that is covered by resort credit and has what you want ...
I'll be going with my brother, and the plan is to book it through my MLIFE card and when we get there to put the actual payment under his credit card. (We will both be present at check-in) Does anyone know if this will work? or does the payment card have to match the reservation/mlife name? Thanks Scott (lurker, first time poster)
So we are MGM platinum together, but if I were to separate our accounts, I would remain platinum and he would drop to gold. (MGM tracks our points separately so they can tell me our individual points at the MGM rewards desk if I ask.) He has earned 70k tier credits so far and I have earned 200k.
If I stay at an MGM prop, I will only track my play points since I don't know how much my host, reward credits and the Resort Credit with my offer will cover of my various room charges. I often have restaurant, laundry, food and/or sundry charges. Even if I had an idea, I refuse to spend vacation time analyzing, tracking and crunching numbers.
At a minimum, on your first slot session, I would do a really short session, pull your card out, check the app or the website, and make sure you got TCs and Slot Dollars and Rewards Points. Should be at least 1 TC per $1 coin-in if you play pennies. As far as the Platinum resort credit, that is the nightmare scenario.
At Diamond level in the Crown and Anchor Society, I can match to MGM Gold indefinitely without spending a single dime at MGM properties, so it begs the question, why even attempt to earn tier credits for gold. I'll definitely still play at Park MGM, Aria, and Cosmo once the conversion is done, but I need to get another player's club going.
I picked up my Noir card last weekend at Bellagio when I was in Vegas. I was told that I can't claim the $1,200 flight credit until after the merge, but they told me the dining credit was available immediately.
Flukes can occur with IT systems. In the event it does concern you then simply ask the bank to reissue you a new credit card number and mark the old card as lost/stolen. Not really a need to get hostile with a phone rep. Unlikely phone reps will have access to any credit card info anyways. Just my 2 cents.
