DeWitt School District No. 1 is a school district based in the town of DeWitt, Arkansas, United States.The DeWitt School District is geographically the state's largest school district with 872.29 square miles (2,259.2 km 2) of land and 46.18 square miles (119.6 km 2) of water, [citation needed] encompassing portions of Arkansas and Jefferson, and Desha counties.
The school mascot is the Clinton Cougar and the school colors are green and gold. Every year 7th graders take a trip to Springfield , Illinois, and the 8th graders go to Washington D.C. One of the school's most famous graduates is the late celebrity and movie critic Gene Siskel , one-time host (along with Roger Ebert) of the TV show At the Movies .
The older DeWitt Elementary becoming a jr. high with 6 through 8th grades. The outlying schools were closed by the late 1970s. Due to a referendum, the name of the district was changed from Central Clinton Community School District to the Central DeWitt School District as of July 1, 2014.

Former schools: Alread High School - In the 2004-2005 school year it continued to operate as a K-12 school. For the 2005-2006 school year it only had elementary school, with middle school students moved to Clinton Junior High School and high school students moved to Clinton High School.
