Posted. Hi clare, symptoms indicate hypothyroidism. However, these symptoms can also be the same for other medical conditions. Having said this, your situation is similar to mine: high TSH, normal T4, hypothyroid symptoms. The key to finding out what was wrong with me was to do a T3 test. This was low, indicating my body wasn't converting the ...
T4 raises as a signal to tell your body to stop making TSH, so, it's your body saying that you actually need less TSH (Thyroid stimulating Hormone) and that it has too much. In other words, normal TSh with a high T4, may suggest overtreatment. Another thing that can cause normal TSH with high T4 is in which, non-compliant patients who take T4 ...
A thyroid function test is a blood test measuring the levels of the hormones made by your thyroid gland. The test also checks the level of a hormone made by the pituitary gland in your brain, which acts on your thyroid gland. The two hormones, thyroxine (T4) and thyroid-stimulating hormone (TSH), work together and are usually in balance.
Blood tests (twice) have both revealed high levels of both Tsh and T4. GP seems to be confused!!!! They have lowered my thyroxine from 100mcg to 75mcg daily and now back up to 100mcg daily. I'm not sleeping very well, really painful joints although I am also currently on co codamol 50/100mg, Gabapentin 400mg and Diclofenac 50mg all 3 times a day.
If the level of thyroxine in the blood is high then the pituitary gland releases less TSH. Therefore, a low level of TSH means that your thyroid gland is overactive and is making too much thyroxine. Thyroxine (T4). A high level of T4 confirms hyperthyroidism. Sometimes the results of the tests are borderline. For example, a normal T4 but with a ...
It stimulates the thyroid gland to make thyroxine. If the level of thyroxine in the blood is low, then the pituitary releases more TSH to try to stimulate the thyroid gland to make more thyroxine. Therefore, a raised level of TSH means the thyroid gland is underactive and is not making enough thyroxine. Thyroxine (T4). A low level of thyroxine ...
Hello, yes my results and ranges are, TSH 3.8 (0.40-4.00) FT4 20 (10-20) and FT3 4.9 (2.8-6.8). All are in range but the TSH and FT4 are at the higher end of the "normal" range. As far as I understand, it's confusing that my TSH is high (leaning toward underactive), and my FT4 is high too (yet leaning toward overactive).
It depends a lot on the actual value of your TPO ab level. At a sufficiently high level these antibodies have the capacity to damage the thyroid gland causing Hashimoto's thyroiditis in the long run. At a minimum, given your family history, you will need regular (typically yearly) monitoring to see if your thyroid hormone levels are still ...
I have had sudden weight gain went from 180 to 256 in the matter of 2 years. Blood results showed slightly elevated white blood cell count, Normal T3, Normal T4, but a High TSH, in fact I got two blood tests with different doctors and labs, First in August TSH was 6.45 , and in October TSH was 8.25. All hormone levels came back normal, no ...
TSH levels should be monitored, and free L-T4/free L-T3 levels measured where clinically appropriate. Subclinical hypothyroidism. Subclinical hypothyroidism occurs when a patient has a TSH level above the upper limit of the reference range (but usually less than 10 mU/L) and free T4 levels are within the reference range.
