The Golgi apparatus (/ ˈ ɡ ɒ l dʒ i /), also known as the Golgi complex, Golgi body, or simply the Golgi, is an organelle found in most eukaryotic cells. [1] Part of the endomembrane system in the cytoplasm, it packages proteins into membrane-bound vesicles inside the cell before the vesicles are sent to their destination.
English: A reworked version of File:Biological_cell.svg. Diagram of a typical animal cell. Organelles are labelled as follows: Nucleolus; Nucleus; Ribosomes (dots on rough reticulum walls) Vesicle; Rough endoplasmic reticulum; Golgi apparatus (or "Golgi body") Cytoskeleton; Smooth endoplasmic reticulum; Mitochondrion; Vacuole; Cytosol; Lysosome ...

In neuroscience, Golgi cells are the most abundant inhibitory interneurons found within the granular layer of the cerebellum. [1] Golgi cells can be found in the granular layer at various layers. [2] The Golgi cell is essential for controlling the activity of the granular layer. [3] They were first identified as inhibitory in 1964. [4]
The nucleolus within the nuclear envelope is the location of ribosome synthesis. The destination of synthesized ribosomes for protein translation is rough endoplasmic reticulum (rough ER), which is connected to and shares the same membrane with the nucleus. The Golgi body is also near the rough ER for packaging and redistributing. Likewise ...
Secretory pathway diagram, including nucleus, endoplasmic reticulum and golgi apparatus. Nuclear membrane; Nuclear pore; Rough endoplasmic reticulum (rER)
Complete diagram of a human spermatozoon Schematic of subcellular structures in a murine spermatid being formed showing the formation of the residual body and acrosomal cap. The process of spermiogenesis is traditionally divided into four stages: the Golgi phase, the cap phase, formation of the tail, and the maturation stage. [1]
Drawing by Camillo Golgi of a hippocampus stained with the silver nitrate method Drawing of a Purkinje cell in the cerebellum cortex done by Santiago Ramón y Cajal, clearly demonstrating the power of Golgi's staining method to reveal fine detail. Golgi's method is a silver staining technique that is used to visualize nervous tissue under light ...
