Jan Železný (Czech pronunciation: [jan ˈʒɛlɛzniː] ⓘ; born 16 June 1966) is a Czech former track and field athlete who competed in the javelin throw. He is a World and Olympic champion and holds the world record with a throw of 98.48 metres (323 ft 1 in).

For the men's javelin throw event, 32 athletes were eligible to qualify for the event with a maximum of three athletes per nation. The qualification could be secured either by achieving the entry standard of 85.50 m in the qualification period (between 1 July 2023 and 30 June 2024) or by the World Athletics Ranking for the event.
