While historically change ringers have been somewhat hostile to the carillon, [13] ANZAB has maintained a friendly relationship with carillonneurs who have performed at ANZAB events such as the 2016 Festival in Bathurst, due to the proximity between the Bathurst War Memorial Carillon and the change-ringing bell tower of All Saint's Cathedral. A bell that is up is dangerous to be near, and only expert ringers should ever contemplate entering a bell chamber or touching a rope when the bells are up. To raise a bell, the ringer pulls on the rope and starts the bell swinging. Each time the bell swings the ringer adds a little more energy to the system, similar to pushing a child's swing.

When the ringer desires to make a stroke, the bell is swung around a full circle, the clapper striking once. There is no counter-balancing in English full-circle ringing, so the bell accelerates rapidly to its maximum velocity when mouth downwards and slows down as it rises to mouth upwards.
They are the heaviest ring of five bells listed in Dove's Guide for Church Bell Ringers [4]. The heaviest bell is 26 long cwt 0 qr 8 lb (2,920 lb or 1,324 kg) and the bells have a combined weight of 4 long tons 5 cwt 2 qr 24 lb (9,600 lb or 4.354 t).
