The Spain national handball team is governed by the Royal Spanish Handball Federation. Spain is one of the most successful handball teams in the world, having won two World Championships and two European Championships .
The top teams play in the Liga ASOBAL. In each division, a team plays all other teams twice, once at home and once away. The Spanish league teams compete in Europe under the European Handball Federation, most notably in the EHF Champions League. The teams also compete in a domestic cup competition each year, called the Copa del Rey.
It is a member of the European Handball Federation (EHF) and the International Handball Federation (IHF). [1] The organisation is responsible for the indoor handball national teams (men's and women's), and the beach handball national teams (men's and women's). As of 2023, the federation has 869 registered clubs and 100,704 federated players. [2]

Valero Rivera López (born 14 February 1953) is a Spanish handball coach. He coached the Spain men's national handball team and participated at the 2012 European Men's Handball Championship held in Serbia. [1] He is the father of Valero Rivera Folch.
