The 2021–22 Panathinaikos season is the club's 63rd consecutive season in Super League Greece. They also compete in the Greek Cup . On 21 May 2022, Panathinaikos defeated PAOK in the Greek Cup Final to win the domestic cup for the 19th time in club's history.
The first club to be promoted was Ionikos, after beating Ergotelis 2–1 on 19 May 2021. Ionikos played in the Super League for the first time since the 2006–07 season. AEL has been relegated to 2021–22 Super League Greece 2 , ending their four-year stay in the top flight.
Panathinaikos was founded in 1908 as "Podosfairikos Omilos Athinon" (Football Club of Athens) by Georgios Kalafatis, [1] [2] they play in Super League Greece, being one of the most successful clubs in Greek football and one of the three clubs which have never been relegated from the top division.
