The Western Ghats, also known as the Sahyadri, is a mountain range that stretches 1,600 km (990 mi) along the western coast of the Indian peninsula. Covering an area of 160,000 km 2 (62,000 sq mi), it traverses the states of Gujarat , Maharashtra , Goa , Karnataka , Kerala , and Tamil Nadu .

Sahyadri Tiger Reserve is a reserve in the state of Maharashtra, created by the Indian government in 2008. [1] Located in the Sahyadri Ranges of the Western Ghats of Maharashtra , it is part of the ecoregions of North Western Ghats moist deciduous forests [ 2 ] and North Western Ghats montane rain forests .
