The middle reaches of the Goulburn River at Seymour.. The Goulburn Valley is a sub-region, part of the Hume region of the Australian state of Victoria.The sub-region consists of those areas in the catchment of the Goulburn River and other nearby streams, and is part of the Murray-Darling Basin.
The Goulburn Valley wine region contains one recognised subregion. The Nagambie Lakes subregion surrounds the town of Nagambie and the artificial Lake Nagambie. [6] Goulburn Valley wine region is roughly triangular. The northern boundary is the Murray River between Echuca to Yarrawonga, including both towns.
The league was initially called the Goulburn Valley District Football Association (GVDFA) and dates back to May, 1893. Clubs from the townships of Kyabram, Mooroopna, Nagambie, Nathalia, Numurkah, Shepparton, Shepparton Ramblers, Tatura, Undera and Wunghnu were present at the inaugural meeting, with club's deciding to play on a Wednesday afternoon.

Seymour remains on the Goulburn Valley Highway. The town is in the rich Goulburn Valley which supports the local vineyards. The large Puckapunyal military base is located west of Seymour. Once the centre of the bushranging area of Victoria, it has a museum which displays many period relics of that era.
