Richard John Beato (/ b i ˈ ɑː t oʊ / bee-AH-toh; born April 24, 1962 [2]) is an American YouTube personality, multi-instrumentalist, music producer, and educator. Since the early 1980s, he has worked variously as a musician, songwriter, audio engineer , and record producer; he has also lectured on music at universities.
In a June 2021 video posted on YouTube, record producer Rick Beato called "Never Gonna Let You Go" "the most complex pop song of all time", due to its use of frequent key changes, inverted chords and unusual chord progressions. [4] Beato's discussion includes a detailed harmonic analysis of the Sérgio Mendes arrangement.
A few weeks later the band came back to Beato's studio and finished the song in a very short time. They then tracked the original demo, which was a half step up from the 2013 version. The band also tracked 3 other songs with Beato. The band flew back up to Carolina while Beato mixed the song.
In 2020, their former producer Rick Beato revealed that the band had reunited and was recording new songs, now under the name Heavy Weighs the King, adopting the name of their 2008 studio album. [ 1 ]
