Metropolitan Natural Park. The Metropolitan Natural Park (Parque Natural Metropolitano) is a protected area located in Panama City, Panama. It is the only wildlife refuge in the city. The origins of this park date back to 1974, when the first steps were taken for the optimal use of the area near the Panama Canal.

The city was rebuilt in 1673 in a new location approximately 5 miles (8 km) southwest of the original city. This location is now known as the Casco Viejo (Old Quarter) of the city. Panama City is the fourth earliest-founded of the modern-day capital cities in the Americas. [citation needed]
St. Andrews State Park is a 1,200-acre (4.9 km 2) Florida State Park located three miles (5 km) east of Panama City Beach Florida, off U.S. 98. It is the headquarters of one of the state's five AmeriCorps Florida State Parks chapters.
The park has 250 hectares (620 acres) in total area (of which 55 hectares (140 acres) belong to the botanical garden), which is located right next to the Soberania National Park, less than an hour's drive from Panama City, at about kilometer 18 on the road leading to Gamboa.
