Metropolitan Natural Park. The Metropolitan Natural Park (Parque Natural Metropolitano) is a protected area located in Panama City, Panama. It is the only wildlife refuge in the city. The origins of this park date back to 1974, when the first steps were taken for the optimal use of the area near the Panama Canal.
Ancón Hill (Spanish: Cerro Ancón) is a 199 metres (653 ft) high hill that overlooks Panama City, Panama, adjacent to the township of Ancón. It was used for administration of the Panama Canal and was under U.S. jurisdiction as a part of the Panama Canal Zone until being returned to Panama in 1977. Largely undeveloped, the area is now a reserve.

Soberanía National Park (Parque Nacional Soberanía) is a national park in Panama near the banks of the Panama Canal in the provinces of Panamá and Colón, some 25 kilometres (16 mi) from Panama City. The Chagres River runs through the park. Established as a national park in 1980, the park covers 55,000 acres (220 km 2). [1]
The national park covers 579,000 hectares (1,430,000 acres). Several endangered or vulnerable species live here, including the brown-headed spider monkey, harpy eagle, Baird's tapir, and giant anteater. A collared aracari from the park is pictured.
