Great Karimun (Indonesian: Karimun Besar), also known as Mawas Island, is one of the islands in the Riau Islands province of Indonesia, administratively part of Karimun Regency. It lies about 37 km southwest of Singapore , 54 km west of Batam , 24 km northeast of Rangsang Island and 32 km north of Kundur Island .

The Zanzibar Archipelago (Funguvisiwa la Zanzibar, in Swahili, Arabic: أرخبيل زنجبار) is a group of islands off the coast of mainland Tanzania in the sea of Zanj. The archipelago is also known as the Spice Islands. There are three main islands with permanent human settlements, Zanzibar island, Pemba island, and Mafia island.
The main island is known as Karimun (2,700 ha), while the second-largest island is Kemujan (1,400 ha). [2] As of the 2020 Census, the population of the island group was 9,789 [3] which lived on five of the islands. The official estimate as at mid 2022 was 9,926. [1]
