Honorifics in Canada are accorded to various office holders in government—in the federal, provincial, and municipal jurisdictions—as well as judges, members of the armed forces, and religious figures.
In 1928, the Government of Canada created the Credit Institute of Canada (CIC) through a Special Act of Parliament. The mandate of the CIC is to provide rigorous training, examination and continuous learning to credit professionals who protect the wealth of Canada's companies and institutions.

Companions of the Order of Canada, the highest level of the Order of Canada, have demonstrated the highest degree of merit to Canada and humanity, on the national or international scene. Up to 15 companions are appointed each year, [ 1 ] with a limit of 180 living companions at any given time. [ 2 ]
