Norwegians started settling in Norman County in the early 1870s and up until Dec. 27th, 1906 that also included what is now Mahnomen County (Ojibwe for "wild rice"). The county was created by the Minnesota legislature on March 17, 1881, with Ada (which had been founded in 1874) as county seat.
Twin Valley is a city in Norman County, Minnesota, United States, along the Wild Rice River. The population was 723 at the 2020 census. [2] Minnesota State Highway 32 and County Highway 31 are two of the main routes in the community. Minnesota State Highway 200 is nearby. The Agassiz Recreational Trail passes through Twin Valley. [5]

The Norman County Courthouse is a historic courthouse in Ada, Minnesota.It is actually the second building in Ada used by the county government. In 1883 the first offices were in a two story building on the NE corner of the block the current courthouse sits on.
