The Oregon Dunes National Recreation Area provides numerous recreational activities, including off-highway vehicle (OHV) use, hiking, fishing, canoeing, horseback riding, and camping. The Carter Dunes Trail and Oregon Dunes Day Use provide forest access for the disabled.
Jessie M. Honeyman Memorial State Park, also known simply as Honeyman State Park, is in Lane County of the U.S. state of Oregon. It lies 3 miles (5 km) south of Florence along Highway 101, the coastal highway. The 27,212-acre (11,012 ha) Oregon Dunes National Recreation Area adjoins the park to the west.
During the 1940s and 1950s, workers planted European beach grass, shore pine, and Scotch broom to stabilize the dunes—a process that took an additional twenty years. The park opened in 1972. [3] This park has a day-use areas, and a campground for tents, recreational vehicles, horse riders, hikers and bicyclists.
The variety of locales and amenities of the parks reflect the diverse geography of Oregon, including beaches, forests, lakes, rock pinnacles, and deserts. The state parks offer many outdoor recreation opportunities, such as overnight camping facilities, day hiking, fishing, boating, historic sites, astronomy, and scenic rest stops and viewpoints.

The Oregon Dunes are the largest coastal sand dunes in North America, covering around 7,000 acres (28 km 2) of a 40 miles (64 km) stretch of the Oregon Coast. Formed by thousands of years of wind and waves, the dunes offer off-road vehicle use, hiking, camping, and birdwatching.
Whittaker Creek and Clay Creek campgrounds between Eugene and the Oregon Coast will be closed at the start of the 2024 season due to staffing issues.
The State of Oregon has stated its intention to create more primitive and free camping areas. Vehicles are allowed on a few beaches. Dune buggies are used extensively in the Oregon Dunes National Recreation Area, a 40-mile (64 km) stretch of beach from Florence to Coos Bay.
