The Old Tullamore Distillery was an Irish whiskey distillery which was established in Tullamore, County Offaly, Ireland, in 1829. [3] The original home of Tullamore Dew Irish whiskey, the distillery closed in 1954, having endured financial difficulties for many years, like many Irish whiskey distilleries of the early 20th century.

The building, which was designed by John B. Keane in the neoclassical style and built in ashlar stone, was completed in 1833. [1] The design involved a symmetrical main frontage facing Cormac Street; there was a flight of steps leading up to a large hexastyle portico with Ionic order columns supporting an entablature and a modillioned pediment.
Originally Tullamore Courthouse had been the meeting place of Offaly County Council. [ 1 ] [ 2 ] The county council moved to modern facilities, which were designed by ABK Architects , in 2002. [ 3 ] The new facility won the award for Best Public Building in the Irish Architecture Awards for 2003. [ 3 ]
In a nod to the long history of distilling at Kilbeggan, one of the two pot stills installed in the refurbished distillery was a 180-year old pot still, which had originally been installed at the Old Tullamore Distillery in the early 1800s. [14] It is the oldest working pot still producing whiskey in the world today.
