In 2002, Dorsey was appointed chancellor of Baton Rouge Community College (BRCC). She led the college through its first Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS) accreditation and received approval to offer financial aid at the college. The Louisiana Board of Regents is a government agency in the U.S. state of Louisiana that is responsible for coordination of all public higher education in the state. The Board was created under the terms of the 1974 Louisiana Constitution, and began operations effective January 1, 1975.
West Feliciana Parish is part of the Baton Rouge metropolitan statistical area. The River Bend Nuclear Generating Station, operated by Entergy Nuclear, is located in West Feliciana Parish below St. Francisville. It produces approximately 10 percent of the total electric power demand in Louisiana. [4]
In July 2012, SoLAcc merged with the Acadiana Technical Colleges, thereby making SoLAcc a comprehensive community college with campuses in eight parishes. It is one of the largest community colleges in Louisiana with more than 7,000 students enrolled. SoLAcc awards associate degrees, transfer degrees, technical diplomas, and certifications.
