Five year programs connect 2 years of Pre Pharmacy to an accelerated year round program. Six year programs deliver six tradition academic years which means summers are not used for the programs and are free of required classes.

In 2004 the Higher Education Commission of Pakistan and the Pharmacy Council of Pakistan revised the syllabus and changed the 4-year B.Pharmacy (Bachelor of Pharmacy) Program to a 5-year Pharm.D. (Doctor of Pharmacy) program. All 21 universities have started the 5-year Pharm.D Program.
