Pomeroy (/ ˈ p ʌ m r ɔɪ / PUM-roy [4]) is a village in and the county seat of Meigs County, Ohio, United States, [5] along the Ohio River about 21 miles (34 km) south of Athens. The population was 1,573 at the 2020 census .
It joined with State Route 833 (the former alignment of U.S. Route 33) from one mile (1.6 km) west of Pomeroy to 1 + 3 ⁄ 4 miles (2.8 km) east of Pomeroy, including a brief concurrency with State Route 124, and then headed northeast to the eastern U.S. Route 33/State Route 7 interchange. The route was deleted between 2013 and 2015.

The southern terminus of SR 143 is at a T-intersection with the concurrency of SR 7 and SR 124 approximately one mile (1.6 km) west of the village of Pomeroy. Its northern terminus is at a T-intersection with U.S. Route 50 (US 50) nearly 2.75 miles (4.43 km) southwest of Albany .

State Route 733 (SR 733) is a state highway in south-central Meigs County, Ohio.At a length of 2.24 miles (3.60 km) long, the route acts as a connector from State Routes 124 and 833 in the north-easternmost extents of Pomeroy to an interchange with US 33 and SR 7 near the unincorporated community of Five Points within Salisbury Township.
South of Athens, US 33 continues as a limited-access highway, bypassing Pomeroy, intersecting SR 124 and SR 7, and continuing to the Ohio River in Meigs County, crossing the Ohio on the two-lane cantilever Ravenswood Bridge, and entering West Virginia in Ravenswood. In total, US 33 traverses 236.8 miles (381.1 km) across the Buckeye State.
State Route 833 (SR 833) is a 5.10-mile (8.21 km) long east–west state highway in the southern portion of the U.S. state of Ohio.Its western terminus is at the West Virginia state line in Pomeroy, where it provides a connection to West Virginia Route 62 (WV 62) via the Pomeroy-Mason Bridge across the Ohio River.
