The National Railway Museum of Pietrarsa (Italian: Museo Nazionale Ferroviario di Pietrarsa) is close to the Naples–Portici railway. The museum is housed in what was originally the 'Bourbon works' Officine di Pietrarsa , founded in 1840 on the orders of Ferdinand II of Bourbon to build steam engines for ships and boilers for locomotives.
The Ferrovia Alifana is a former railroad company of southern Italy. It held public passenger service on the rail line connection Naples to Piedimonte d'Alife (now Piedimonte Matese). The first station on the site was built in 1866 on a design by the architect Enrico Alvino and it was opened on 7 May of the following year. The current station was designed in 1954 by Pier Luigi Nervi, Carlo Cocchia, Massimo Battaglini, Bruno Zevi, Giulio De Luca, Luigi Piccinato and Giuseppe Vaccaro on the site of the old railway station and overlooks the square dedicated to Giuseppe Garibaldi.
