Red Rock Resort is a hotel and casino in Summerlin South, Nevada, located in the Las Vegas Valley. It is owned and operated by Station Casinos on 59.43 acres (24.05 ha) [ 2 ] located in the Downtown Summerlin neighborhood.
In 2005, there were plans to develop two casinos in Reno: Station Casino Reno and Mount Rose Station. In 2020, the land was sold. [50] [51] [52] Station opened its Red Rock Resort in 2006. It was built in the Las Vegas community of Summerlin at a cost of $925 million, making it Station's most expensive property. [23]
The property was also five miles away from the nearest major casino, and was located in an area that the company considered to be largely underserved. By the end of 2020, the company was working on plans for a hotel-casino project on the site. [28] [29] [30] Red Rock expected the Durango property to become its primary development project. [31]

The Downtown Summerlin shopping center or DTS [2] is an outdoor shopping, dining, and entertainment center. It is a part of the greater Downtown Summerlin area, a 400-acre (160 ha) development which lies within the community of Summerlin South on the western outskirts of Las Vegas, Nevada.
The casino was built and named River Rock Casino. Resulting traffic problems along Highway 128 after the casino's opening in 2002 led to public safety concerns during harvest season because of the agricultural traffic on the roads. [13] These concerns intensified after River Rock received a liquor license in 2008. [14]
