Pittsburgh Regional Transit's bus system covers Allegheny County, and its service extends into small portions of neighboring Beaver, Butler, and Westmoreland counties. These counties also have their own transit systems, including several routes that run into Downtown Pittsburgh, where riders can make connections with Pittsburgh Regional Transit service.

The Philadelphia Transportation Company's "PTC" Folsom Division bus routes (former Routes 71, 76, and 77 trolley lines as well as bus Route 82) were taken over by Red Arrow Lines on January 20, 1961. Since that time the Ex-PTC routes have been eliminated or consolidated into the current route system.
SEPTA replaced two of the routes with their own bus service. Route 122 service was replaced by SEPTA's Route 91 in July 1982, after only one year of service. Route 91 was eliminated due to lack of ridership. Route 121 was replaced by SEPTA's Route 92 in October 1982. This service continues to operate today.

The station, located below Fayette Street, at Washington and Harry Streets in Conshohocken, Pennsylvania, includes a 95-space parking lot. From June 19, 2011, the route returned to Wissahickon which remains – in rebuilt form as the Wissahickon Transportation Center – the route's terminus. On March 23, 2023, SEPTA released a new draft plan for Bus Revolution, SEPTA's bus network redesign. As part of the plan, Route 35 would be consolidated into other routes.
