Ehime Prefecture (愛媛県, Ehime-ken) is a prefecture of Japan located on the island of Shikoku. [4] Ehime Prefecture has a population of 1,334,841 [5] and has a geographic area of 5,676 km 2 (2,191 sq mi). Ehime Prefecture borders Kagawa Prefecture to the northeast, Tokushima Prefecture to the east, and Kōchi Prefecture to the southeast.
Ōshima is located in the north of Ehime prefecture, and has an area of 41.89 square kilometres (16.17 sq mi). Administratively, it was formerly divided between the towns of Yoshiumi and Miyakubo of Ochi District, Ehime; however, in January 16, 2005 both towns were absorbed into the city of Imabari.

The island can be accessed by ferry from Imabari or from Ōmishima Island, Ehime. It can also be accessed by road from the city of Kure, Hiroshima Prefecture through the Akinada Islands Connecting Bridges. [1] The last of these bridges, the Okamura Great Bridge, is a 228 metre long arch bridge which connects Okamura Island with Nakano Island. [2]
Imabari Station is served by the JR Shikoku Yosan Line and is located 144.9 km from the beginning of the line at Takamatsu. [4] Yosan Line local trains which stop at the station only serve the sector between Iyo-Saijō and Matsuyama.
