Collin McKinney (April 17, 1766 – September 9, 1861) was an American surveyor, merchant, politician, lay preacher, and prolific slave owner. [1] He is best known as a figure in the Texas Revolution, as one of the five individuals who drafted the Texas Declaration of Independence and the oldest person to sign it.
William Clark Jr. (April 14, 1798 – January 3, 1871) was a merchant, a signer of the Texas Declaration of Independence, and a legislator in the Republic of Texas. He is sometimes confused with his son, another Texas state legislator who was also known as William Clark Jr. (1828–1884).
The Texas Revolution broke out on October 2, 1835. On December 22, 1835, Ingram wrote the Goliad Declaration of Independence. Ingram also played a key role in the Texas Revolution. After the war, he was the first Speaker of the House for the Republic of Texas. He served during the First Congress of the Republic of Texas (1836–37).
Haden Edwards (August 12, 1771 – August 14, 1849) was a Texas settler. Edwards County, Texas on the Edwards Plateau is named for him. In 1825, Edwards received a land grant from the Mexican government, allowing him to settle families in East Texas. His grant included the city of Nacogdoches, and Edwards soon angered many of the previous settlers.
