The vision was to concentrate most of the ab-initio officer training of the Indian Air Force under one roof. Air Commodore J. D. Aquino, the commandant of the Air Force Flying College Jodhpur, was the first Commandant of the academy. [1] The appointment was held by an Air commodore till 1976, when it was upgraded to two-star rank.
The school was established primarily for the benefit of children of Indian Air Force personnel. It is open to children of Non Air Force category also from other defence Army and Navy personnel as well as gives admissions to CWSN from civilians background. The Air Force Golden Jubilee Institute is a co-educational public school.
It was established in 1958 at Jodhpur as the Control & Reporting (C & R) School. The college trains fighter controllers of the Indian Air Force. It moved to Memaura in 1972. Control & Reporting (C & R) School was upgraded on March 15, 1980, and rechristened as the Air Defence College. [2] [3]
