Madhushala (Hindi: मधुशाला) (The Tavern/The House of Wine) is a book of 135 "quatrains": verses of four lines by Hindi poet and writer Harivansh Rai Bachchan (1907–2003).
Amongst its publications are the 100 volumes of the Mahapuranas; the 50 volumes of the Sacred Books of the East, edited by Max Müller; Bibliotheca Buddhica (30 volumes in 32 pts); Ramcharitmanas with Hindi and English translations; the Manusmriti in 10 volumes and the Sanskrit lexicon; and the 7 volumes of Encyclopedia of Indian Philosophies.
The book is considered the author's masterpiece and a spiritual classic by authors and teachers like Eckhart Tolle, [9] Wayne Dyer, [10] Deepak Chopra [11] Peter Crone and Adyashanti, who called the book a "standout" and "the clearest expression I've ever found."
In an aphoristic sutra style of ancient Indian texts, it presents the complete Jainism philosophy in 350 sutras over 10 chapters. [8] [9] The text has attracted numerous commentaries, translations and interpretations since the 5th-century. [10] One of its sutras, Parasparopagraho Jivanam is the motto of Jainism.
His works consist of poems, commentaries, plays and musical compositions of his works, etc. He has authored more than 250 books and 50 papers, including four epic poems (two each in Sanskrit and Hindi), a Hindi commentary on Tulsidas' Ramcharitmanas, and Sanskrit commentaries on the Ashtadhyayi and the Prasthanatrayi scriptures.
