Balašević's first album after the 2000 political changes in Serbia, Dnevnik starog momka featured only love songs, each having a female name as its title (for this reason most songs remain better known by their unofficial titles, for an example: "Jaroslava" is better known as "Princezo, javi se", "Anđela" as "Moja je draga veštica" etc.).
In 2001, Balašević released the album Dnevnik starog momka (Diary of an Old Bachelor). The album comprised 12 songs, each having a female name as its title. The song titles form the acrostic "Olja je najbolja" (Olja is the Best), [60] Olja being the nickname of Balašević's wife Olivera Balašević.
The songs that were originally released on Balašević's 2001 album Dnevnik starog momka featured alternative titles: "Ljudmila" was released as "Noć kad je Tisa nadošla", "Jaroslava" as "Princezo, javi se...", and "Eleonora" as "Na Bogojavljensku noć".
He became a full-time member of Balašević's group in 1986 and appeared on all of his albums from Bezdan (1986) to Dnevnik starog momka (2001). During his time with Balašević, he also played in a jazz rock group called California. In a 2017 interview, he identified Jaco Pastorius and Pat Metheny as his favourite musicians. [citation needed]

Was Everything just Pretending?) is the second live album by Serbian and former Yugoslav singer-songwriter Đorđe Balašević.The album was recorded during Balašević's concert in Maribor, Slovenia, on December 6, 1996, which was one of Balašević's second concert in this former Yugoslav republic after the breakup of Yugoslavia.
