King's Department Stores was a chain of discount stores in the Eastern United States. The chain started in 1956, in Brockton, Massachusetts . They expanded to 187 stores (three stores operated in the Buffalo, New York area [ 1 ] ). [ 2 ]
Manufacturing facilities were dispersed along the 2-mile (3.2 km) power canal to minimize damage during infrequent explosions. King's son-in-law Gershom Moore Peters began working at the powder mill in 1881 and became president of the powder company when King died in 1885. Peters formed the Peters Cartridge Company at Kings Mills in 1887.

Kings Mills is located along I-71 twenty miles northeast of Cincinnati, less than a mile east of Mason, two miles southwest of South Lebanon, two and one-half miles north of Fosters, and two miles west of Hopkinsville. The community is in the Mason (513) telephone exchange and is served by the Kings Mills/Kings Island post office (45034).
From here on south the road runs as a larger street through a more residential area. At the southeast corner of King Drive and 95th Street in the Roseland community area is Chicago State University a historic Black university. At 99th Street, King Drive crosses over the Bishop Ford Freeway (Interstate 94).
