Burnet Corwin Tuthill (November 16, 1888 – January 18, 1982) was an American conductor, composer and musicologist. [1] [2] He co-founded the National Association of Schools of Music and served as its secretary from 1924 to 1959.
Schaum began his career as a piano teacher in the late 1920s. In 1933 he founded the Schaum Piano School in Milwaukee. About the same time he began to compose piano music for teaching purposes. He also founded the first company to produce award stickers specifically for music students.
Throughout the history of music education, many music educators have adopted and implemented technology in the classroom. Alice Keith and D.C. Boyle were said to be the first music educators in the United States to use the radio for teaching music. Keith wrote Listening in on the Masters, which was a broadcast music appreciation course. Nannie Louise Wright (June 30, 1879 – March 16, 1958) was an American composer, pianist, and music educator born in Fayette, Missouri.She graduated from Howard-Payne Junior College in Fayette and the Columbia School of Music in Chicago, Illinois.
