Al-Azhar University – Gaza (AUG; Arabic: جامعة الأزهر بغزة) is a Palestinian, public, non-profit, and independent higher education institution. During the first intifada , Palestinian Leader Yasser Arafat issued a decree in September 1991 to establish a Palestinian national university.
